"Throwback" uniforms were introduced throughout the National Football League
in 1994 to commemorate the League's 75th Anniversary.
The Lions wore this 1934-1961 style in five games that season (Game
3, at Dallas; Games 6, 12, 13 and 15, at home).
They wore them again in the 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 Thanksgiving Day home
games.
They were not worn in 2005, 2006 or 2007. (The black alternates were
worn instead.)
They returned in 2008 for 11/09/08 home game vs. Jacksonville, and the Thanksgiving
Day game vs. the Titans. They were not worn in 2009, but returned in 2010. They have not been worn since.
